So I read somewhere that washing your hair with coconut milk will give you amazing results. Well, it’s been three weeks so far that I’ve been doing this method and here are my thoughts. I buy my coconut milk from an organic store and the brand I use is called Blue Monkey. I like to wash my hair about twice a week; Tuesdays and Fridays. I wanted to try this method because I have curly hair and it can get pretty dry, especially in the winter. So I read that coconut milk can thicken, nourish and hydrate your hair as well as relax and define curls. Once I’ve hopped in the shower and saturated my hair with water I shake then open a can of coconut milk and pour it all over my hair. Next, I work it in and let it sit for about five minutes and then comb out my hair in the shower.
For my curly haired friends, remember to never brush your hair when dry. If you heard that you should only brush your hair when dry, well that statement is true but it’s only meant for people with straight or semi-wavy hair, brush your hair when super wet, very gently and with a comb! Anyway, back to my original thought…oh yeah so once I’ve combed and rinsed my hair (with cold water of course), I then let it air dry.
The results…were mediocre. Anyone’s hair after they’ve washed and brushed it; is nice (mine certainly was), its the day after that will really show the true health and state of your hair. I’m not sure if I didn’t leave it on long enough or if I had it on for too long but my hair looked like curly straw. It did feel a bit stronger and thicker, so that I liked. Maybe my hair will always be naturally dry because of my hormones, I don’t know, but I’ll never give up trying to achieve beautiful hair.
Feel free to comment if you have any other “natural” treatments you use for your hair.
Until next time,
